Smallpeice Trust-STEM challenge day at NDHS

STEM Day using Lego Mindstorm with the Smallpiece Trust

Before the half-term, we had a special visit from the Smallpeice Trust, who organised an exciting STEM challenge day for our year 10 students studying GCSE Design and Technology. This engaging event allowed our students to explore their creativity and problem-solving abilities.

During the day, our students were divided into teams of 4 to 5, and their task was to design an autonomous vehicle within a given context. To bring their ideas to life, they utilised Lego Mindstorm kits to build and program their vehicles. It was incredible to witness the teamwork and collaboration displayed by our students as they combined their individual knowledge and skills.

At the end of the challenge, each team had the opportunity to present their work to a judging panel. This not only showcased their technical abilities but also honed their presentation and communication skills.

Overall, the Smallpeice Trust STEM challenge day provided our year 10 students with a unique hands-on learning experience, promoting critical thinking and creativity. We extend our gratitude to the Smallpeice Trust for organising this enriching event and to our students for their enthusiastic participation.
