Reports & Parent/Carer Evenings
Assessment Grades in Reports
We release three termly reports a year for Years 7 to 10 and Year 12 and two reports for Year 11 and Year 13. Each report includes a judgement on your child's attitude to learning and the grade they achieved on their most recent assessment in the subject.
Year 10 and Year 11 will receive a GCSE grade for their most recent assessment and Year 12 and Year 13 an A-level grade. However, Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 students will receive the percentage they achieved on the assessment, as well as the average percentage students in the year group achieved on the assessment, in order to give parents and careers some context of the assessment.
Though historically, we have provided students in KS4 and KS5 target and forecast grades, this is something we have now moved away from, as we do not want to place glass ceilings on what students can achieve. Our ethos as a school is one of continual improvement and that is what we strongly encourage amongst our students too.

Reports Explained
The School Reports are released in PDF format through the school’s MCAS (MyChildAtSchool) system which can be accessed by clicking here. Parents will receive the School ID and their login details via email at the start of the academic year.
You will need the free Adobe Acobat Reader software installed on your computer to view School Reports & Progress Trackers. Click here to download the latest version for free.
Attitude to Learning
This is a statement selected from 1 - Outstanding to 4 - Cause for Concern which best describes the effort and degree to which your child is active in class and takes responsibility for their learning.
A2L Grade | Criteria |
---|---|
Outstanding (1) | Highly self-motivated students who take full responsibility for all aspects of their learning. They challenge themselves to exceed previous achievements. They act on all feedback. They show resourcefulness / initiative. They want to explore their understanding beyond the basic objectives of the lesson, for example by reading ahead of or beyond the curriculum. |
Good (2) | Conscientious students who take a keen interest in their learning. They wish to achieve their best. Any issues with homework or effort in class are very rare. They are aware of their target grade and generally act on feedback but may lack resourcefulness / initiative / resilience at times. |
Needs to Improve (3) |
Students who are inconsistent in taking responsibility for their learning. They need to be reminded about homework, equipment or punctuality and may be easily distracted. They are capable of distinguishing what they need to do to enhance their learning but often choose not to do so, ‘playing safe’ rather than challenging themselves. They occasionally act on feedback but in a tokenistic manner. |
Cause for Concern (4) |
Students who are unprepared to learn, whose poor attitude adversely affects their own learning and that of others. Behaviour, homework, equipment and punctuality are a regular issue which undermines quality of teaching. They lack or avoid using the skills required to develop their understanding, showing little motivation to do so. They ignore feedback on how to improve and make little or no progress as a result. |
Cause for Concern
Noted if there are behaviour (BEH), or organisational (ORG) or Homework (HMW) concerns.
Please discuss these with your child and contact the subject teacher by email using the email format InitialSurname@ndhs.org.uk . Refer to your child's Timetable page in MCAS for teacher names.
Summative Assessment grade or percentage
This is where you will see the grade or percentage, your child achieved in their last assessment in the subject. In some subjects, several assessments will have been added together to calculate an overall summative assessment grade or percentage. However, the grade or percentage recorded here will be solely for assessments completed in the previous term. We no longer report the summative assessment score as a running average, though we do plan for reports to retain the assessment scores achieved by the child on the previous two assessments within the subject.
Comments
Where a teacher does have a concern surrounding a student’s attitude to learning, they will provide a comment on how the student can rectify the situation. Equally, if a teacher believes that a student has underperformed on an assessment in their subject, they will also provide a comment as to how the student can improve next time.

Creating a SchoolCloud Account
- Go to https://ndhs.schoolcloud.co.uk/ to register yourself as a parent.
- Your parent title and last name must match Bromcom. E.g., Ms Winter.
- If you have trouble logging in at this point please contact dataadmin@ndhs.org.uk
- Schoolcloud requires just one parent to book all the appointments for the evening.
- This parent will have the facility to invite another person to the appointments from different venue.
Booking your appointments
- Notre Dame will contact you via email to let you know when booking opens
- Please do not email the teachers for appointments
- Log into SchoolCloud and simply drag the sliders to when you are available and click the teachers you want to see (the wider your window, the more chance you will have of seeing who you need to see). The system will then allocate appointments for you.
- Please remember to accept the appointments
- You will receive an email confirming your bookings. Should you need to amend any, you can do so via the booking system.
Advice on Attending Online Appointments
- Our advice is to log into Schoolcloud early, 10 mins before your first appointment.
- You can access Schoolcloud by either clicking on the link in your confirmed appointments email or via https://ndhs.schoolcloud.co.uk/
- Click on the ‘join video appointments’ button: at the allotted time, your appointment will appear with an invitation to join.
- Please note that the appointments are limited to 5 minutes and the system will end the meeting after that time. After each appointment you will have at least a 1 minute gap before the next one.
- Students should, if possible, attend.
For Safeguarding - Safer Working Practice reasons:
- Conversations should take place in appropriate rooms e.g. kitchen, lounge.
- All participants should be appropriately attired.
- No conversations should be recorded.
- The same parent who made the appointments MUST be the one to log in as the appointments are linked to his/her details only.
- Notre Dame High School aims to have a positive ethos and positive and constructive relationships between staff and parents, and it is important that this continues. Therefore, please note that in the extremely unlikely event of discourtesy, staff will end the conversation and refer the matter to the Senior Leadership Team.

Tips for troubleshooting
- Please check guide carefully beforehand to ensure you are using a suitable browser:
- Make sure your camera and microphone and volume are fully enabled in your settings and that you have allowed the system to access them
- Better sound is achieved if only one person speaks (closely) to the microphone at a time
- If one party loses connection please just wait whilst they log in again
- If there is a sound /display issue try clicking the microphone/camera icon off and on again
- If there is still an issue try logging off and logging on again or try another device
- If possible have a backup device ready for you to log on and use
- We cannot do any more on the night so please be forgiving in case of technical hitch.
- To maximise connectivity to the software, we recommend you reduce the number of devices accessing the wi-fi in households, and also the number of applications you have running.
Please stay with the evening unless you receive an email saying that we have had to abandon it.
